History

The department of Ophthalmology at Ramathibodi Hospital, Thailand was first established in January 1965. During that time the department was combined with the Ears Nose Throat (ENT) department and led by Professor Uthai Rutnin. In 1980, the Ophthalmology and ENT departments were eventually separated to become their individual departments.
In accordance with the Faculty of Medicine's vision and philosophy, the Ophthalmology department at Mahidol University aspires to be the leading university hospital in Thailand that meets international standards. Furthermore, we strive to encourage learning, deliver excellent health services and provide medical innovations for a better and healthier society.
"We strive to generate high quality Ophthalmologists that are committed to lifelong learning and provide exceptional services of highest international standards".
