NSID 551 Nursing Leadership in Health Delivery System
      Nursing profession and its influences on the national health care delivery systems. The application of leadership theories and research findings related to leadership in formulating policy and planned action to solve the contemporary professional nursing issues and health care problems. Political process and strategies, policy planning and participation in national health care policy formulation and planning for the improvement of health care of people are also focused.

RANS 607 Philosophy of Science and Theoretical Perspective
      Overview history of science, critical analysis of philosophical basis underlying knowledge and science development, issues and various philosophical approaches to nursing science development, analyzing the underlying epistemological and ontological assumptions and implications of diverse approaches to knowledge generation in nursing.

NSID 552 Nursing Theory Development
      An in-depth study of the processes of theory construction and creating knowledge. An integral vision of knowledge and strategies for expanding knowledge through multiple levels. Concept analysis, synthesis, and derivation from both interpretative and empirical perspectives. A variety of processes for creating propositional statements and deriving theory. The role of theory in guiding research and related issues.

RANS 609 Advanced Research Design in Nursing
      Nature of nursing science and nursing research. The important and the development of a conceptual framework for research. Measurement theory and development of research instruments. Theory of sampling and sample size estimation. Research design for internal and external validity. Ethical issues and protection of human subjects in conducting research.

PHBS 623 Applied Statistics in Health Science Research
      Statistics used in data analysis of health science research: Correlation, Multiple Regression Analysis (MRA), Logistic Regression Analysis (LRA), Discriminant Analysis (DA), Repeated Measures Analysis of Variance (RMANOVA), Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA), Factor Analysis (FA), Path Analysis (PA), and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Skills in using these statistics according to assumption of each one are emphasized. Using statistics relevant to research question, objective, and design are also emphasized.

      Analysis of concepts, theories and models of stress and adaptation. Analysis and critique of related research findings. Theories, models and concepts are synthesized in order to develop a theoretical based intervention/research to prevent and reduce of stress and promotion of adaptation of individuals, families, and communities in both states of health and illness.

      Philosophical and theoretical foundation of holistic health and complementary healing, critical analysis of theory and research related to holistic health and healing, self-care and self-management.       Concepts, theories, models, and researches related to health promotion/risk reduction. National policy and factors influencing health-promoting behaviors throughout the lifespan. Identifying interactions among behavioral, biophysical, genetic, cultural and socioeconomic processes that influence health-promoting behaviors and related health outcomes.

      Critiquing and analyzing knowledge and research related to health promotion interventions including methodological issues, cultural issues, instrument development, data collection, and data analysis. Designing and evaluating the intervention programme in the population of interest to initiate changes in individual and aggregate health-related behaviors.

      Concepts, theories, and conceptual models in relation to bio-behavioral science. Relationships among the bio-neuro-chemical systems and human behaviors. Alterations in bio-behavioral processes in human during illness and in the restoration of health. Genetic health disease and behaviors. Analysis of current research that links biology and behavior across the life span. Integration of empirical knowledge of bio-behavior for promoting positive behavioral changes.

      Historical development of the conceptualization of family health care as a context of client and a unit of receiving care. Family health problems. Factors influence the family health.       Analysis and critique on the use of system related theories including change theory, health economic theory, organizational and management theories based on critical theory. Optimal health care and/or nursing system model and its outcome indicators.

      Analyze needs, existing health care policies and resources of the selected population. Develop an optimal health care and/or nursing system model focusing on quality care and cost-containment.       Exploration and analysis of selected qualitative research methodologies and techniques relevant to nursing research. Methodologies covered include phenomenology, grounded theory, ethnography, and participatory action research (PAR). Ability to conduct a qualitative study is emphasized. Skills for collecting and analyzing qualitative data are developed.

      A systematic and comprehensive approach to review the literature. Similarities and differences of different type of nursing research review: definition, purpose, scope, sampling frame, and analysis.       Socio-cultural, economical, and political issues surrounding women's health.
