      Nursing profession and its influences on the national health care delivery systems. The application of leadership theories and research findings related to leadership in formulating policy and planned action to solve the contemporary professional nursing issues and health care problems. Political process and strategies, policy planning and participation in national health care policy formulation and planning for the improvement of health care of people are also focused.

      Overview history of science, critical analysis of philosophical basis underlying knowledge and science development, issues and various philosophical approaches to nursing science development, analyzing the underlying epistemological and ontological assumptions and implications of diverse approaches to knowledge generation in nursing.

      An in-depth study of the processes of theory construction and creating knowledge. An integral vision of knowledge and strategies for expanding knowledge through multiple levels. Concept analysis, synthesis, and derivation from both interpretative and empirical perspectives. A variety of processes for creating propositional statements and deriving theory. The role of theory in guiding research and related issues.

      Nature of nursing science and nursing research. The important and the development of a conceptual framework for research. Measurement theory and development of research instruments. Theory of sampling and sample size estimation. Research design for internal and external validity. Ethical issues and protection of human subjects in conducting research.

PHBS 623 Applied Statistics in Health Science Research
      Statistics used in data analysis of health science research: Correlation, Multiple Regression Analysis (MRA), Logistic Regression Analysis (LRA), Discriminant Analysis (DA), Repeated Measures Analysis of Variance (RMANOVA), Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA), Factor Analysis (FA), Path Analysis (PA), and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Skills in using these statistics according to assumption of each one are emphasized. Using statistics relevant to research question, objective, and design are also emphasized.

Analysis of current research that links biology and behavior across the life span. Integration of empirical knowledge of bio-behavior for promoting positive behavioral changes.
