On April 25, 2024, in Meeting Room no.2 at the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Clinical Professor Artit Ungkanont, M.D., the Dean of the Faculty, along with his Deputy Dean for International Relations, Asst. Prof. Suchin Worawichawong, M.D., Assoc. Prof. Sith Phongkitkarun, M.D., Head of the Department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiology, Dr.Putthiporn Charoenphun, Ph.D., the Lecturer in Ramathibodi Medical Physics School and Vice Chairman of the IAEA Anchor Center Establishment Committee as well as the representatives from various divisions of the Department of Radilogy, welcomed esteemed delegates from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The delegation of IAEA included Mr. Hua Liu, Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, and Mr. Gashaw Gebeyehu Wolde, Section Head of the Division for Asia and Pacific, Department of Technical Cooperation, for a special visit to explore opportunities for establishing the IAEA Anchor Centre in Thailand. The visit represented the ongoing partnership between the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University and IAEA in advancing healthcare initiatives in the region. Representatives from the Office of Atoms for Peace and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also took part in the discussions.
The visit focused on potential collaborations to establish the IAEA Anchor Center at the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, emphasizing the commitment to educating healthcare professionals and fostering international partnerships. Following the welcome session, all delegates were guided on a site visit to the facilities related to Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, and Diagnostic Imaging.
The Anchor Centres are cancer centres which have shown resilience through decades of experience working with the IAEA to support their respective region. The Centres have to be regional leaders, contributing to best practices in radiation medicine and in supporting continuing professional development. The centre need to have integrated cancer services using a range of technologies from diagnosis to treatment. An Anchor Centre needs to have a proven record of participation in IAEA Coordinated Research Projects; training fellows in conjunction with the IAEA; providing experts for IAEA training courses and missions; and providing education and training programs in radiation medicine-related disciplines, jointly with nationally recognized universities.
เมื่อวันที่ 25 เมษายน 2567 ณ ห้องประชุม 2 สำนักงานคณบดีคณะแพทยศาสตร์โรงพยาบาลรามาธิบดี มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ศาสตราจารย์คลินิก นายแพทย์ อาทิตย์ อังกานนท์ คณบดี พร้อมด้วย ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ นายแพทย์สุชิน วรวิชชวงษ์และ รองศาสตราจารย์ นายแพทย์สิทธิ์ พงษ์กิจการุณ หัวหน้าภาควิชารังสีวิทยา ตลอดจนอาจารย์ ดร.พุทธิพรณ์ เจริญพันธุ์ อาจารย์ประจำหลักสูตรวิทยาศาสตรมหาบัณฑิต สาขาวิชาฟิสิกส์การแพทย์ พร้อมด้วยตัวแทนสาขาวิชาต่างๆ ของภาควิชารังสีวิทยา ให้การต้อนรับคณะผู้แทนจาก ทบวงการพลังงานปรมาณูระหว่างประเทศ (International Atomic Energy Agency: IAEA) ซึ่งประกอบด้วย Mr. Hua Liu รองผู้อำนวยการใหญ่ทบวงการพลังงานปรมาณูระหว่างประเทศ หัวหน้าส่วนความร่วมมือทางวิชาการ และ Mr. Gashaw Gebeyehu Wolde หัวหน้าส่วนความร่วมมือภูมิภาคเอเชีย-แปซิฟิก ในโอกาสเข้าหารือความร่วมมือและศึกษาดูงานคณะฯ ในโอกาสที่จะมีการจัดตั้ง IAEA Anchor Center ในประเทศไทย ในโอกาสนี้ คณะผู้แทนจากกระทรางการต่างประเทศและสำนักงานปรมาณูเพื่อสันติได้ร่วมให้การต้อนรับด้วย
ทั้งนี้ โครงการ Rays of Hope Anchor Centres เป็นโครงการสนับสนุนการควบคุมและรักษามะเร็งผ่านการรับรองสถาบันทางด้านการแพทย์ในประเทศสมาชิกเป็น Anchor Centre เพื่อให้มีการศึกษา อบรม ดูงาน ทางด้านรังสีวินิจฉัย รังสีรักษา เวชศาสตร์นิวเคลียร์และฟิสิกส์การแพทย์ ให้แก่ประเทศสมาชิกของทบวงการพลังงานปรมาณูระหว่างประเทศ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในภูมิภาคเอเชียและแปซิฟิก
